Using UX To Determine New Apps
(click on images for a larger version)
Through testing feedback of users of the current app called StayAtHand, the original app, I determined the need for new versions that met differing needs:

The original app was designed by the team before my arrival with a lot of functionality including:
-
Ongoing search
-
Multiple locations simultaneously
-
The ability to connect directly to the hotels rather than via a third-party saving time and money for the customer and the hotels
In talking to users, I found two major themes for expanding the service:
-
The need for a very scaled down version of the service for business customers
-
The need for a completely different approach of window shopping using a lot of imagery first.

Logo Design
Initially, I needed to provide two versions of the original logo and color scheme for ongoing marketing and pitch materials for investors and created this set of logos and colors to reflect the feeling of each of the new ones.
Each logo and color gradient was then applied to all the marketing media and a whole host of things were created like letterhead and business cards (it was a startup, so I was the whole graphics department).

StayFaster Design
Work then began on the StayFaster designs and I created the browser site as well as beginning work on the iOS app. I developed a style guide for the various colors and elements for the dev team to use for their end of things.

StayDreamer Design
Next work began on the StayDreamer site which was to be centered entirely around powerful visuals and less around information although that would be there as requested by the viewer. The mobile and web versions were designed to mirror each other.
One thing to note is that the mobile version was not designed to scale easily below the common tablet size since we found in testing that users were not going to use their phones for the most part,
